Posting images:

To to include images (or multiple linked thumbnail images) in your post we recommend the following services:
  • AciaNet direct links, re-hosting, resizing (16MB limit).
  • Postimage direct links, re-hosting, resizing (8MB limit).
  • Imgur direct links, multiple thumbnail linked images, re-hosting, resizing (large images will be compressed).
  • Imagebam multiple thumbnail linked images (10MB limit, adverts).

We recommend that you do not directly link ('hotlink') to images on other sites (with exception of sites that allow this like Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket, Instagram etc) but instead always re-host the image on one of the image host sites.

When posting inline images please keep the image width below 1000~1200 pixels or else the image might not display completely or mess up the forum layout. See an example in this post. You can use the mentioned image host services to automatically resize images when you upload/re-host them.

Example of inline image:

Example with Postimage:

Go to postimage.org and upload one (or more) image(s) from your computer:

You can have postimage automatically resize your image(s) if needed:

Copy the Direct Link into your post:

Add the "img" and "/img" BBCode directly before and after the link:

In your post you can select the complete link and press the "Img" button in top of the edit window. This will automatically apply the "img" codes correctly to your link.

If you uploaded multiple images you can select the following to include them into your post as thumbnails:

Image

Select "Codes for All Images", "Thumbnail for Forums (1)" and "1 Line" (or "3 Columns" or 4 "Columns") options and directly paste the code into your post (no need to add the "Img" codes yourself).

Example with AciaNet:

Go to AciaNet. To upload an image/images from your computer select local and select the image(s). You can automatically resize the image(s) when uploading:

Image

Copy the 'Direct link' into your post:

Image

Add the "Img" code tags by selecting the pasted link and clicking the "Img" button in the edit window, this will automatically add the "Img" codes to the beginning and end of the image link.

If you uploaded multiple images you can post them as thumbnails with the following options:

Image

Select all the shown BBCodes and directly post them into your message (no need to add the "Img" codes yourself in this case).

Examples with Imagebam:

Imagebam is the easiest option to post multiple images as thumbnail links in your post but it will show adverts to the people who click on the thumbnail links.

Image

Select "family safe content" and select the desired thumbnail size.

Image

Select all the code and directly past it into your post. You don't need to manually add the "Img" codes yourself anymore.

Re-hosting images:

If you want to include an image in your post that you found elsewhere on the Internet and you don't have saved on your computer, you can directly post the link into your message and add the "Img" tags by selecting the complete link in your post and pressing the "Img" button in the top of the edit window.

However, not all sites allow this so called 'deep linking'. The image might not show in your post, display an error, the website might go offline over time making the image disappear from your post or the original image might be too wide to correctly display in the forum layout.

Therefor we advice that you always re-host the image using the recommended image hosts mentioned in the first post. The procedure is mostly the same as to uploading images from your computer except you provide the found links of the image(s) instead of uploading the image(s).

Examples:

Posting the resulting codes in your message is the same as in the examples in the previous posts above.
