Wiz Khalifa, New Order and Foals to play Roskilde Festival 2016

British legends New Order will return to Roskilde Festival along with chart-topping hip hopper Wiz Khalifa and British indie rockers Foals. Another 15 acts have also been added to the line-up of the Danish festival, including Bring Me the Horizon, Vince Staples and Odesza.

A pioneering electronic rock act, a hip-hop hit machine, the king of grime, Norwegian black metal: Today’s announcements span several genres and countries, giving a taste of the diversity that is to be expected at Roskilde Festival with artists like New Order, Wiz Khalifa, Foals, Vince Staples, Odesza, Aurora, Bring Me the Horizon, Sleep and many more.

New Order set to return
Now 35 years into their career, Manchester’s very own New Order have graced us with highly influential albums and hit singles like “Blue Monday”, “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “The Perfect Kiss”, “True Faith” and “Regret”, to name a few.

Their mix of rock, dance, pop and electronic music has spawned countless bands since the band’s inception, and they’re now ready to play the festival again, more than 30 years after their first show at Roskilde Festival in 1984. With the new and acclaimed studio album Music Complete – their first in 10 years – taking them back to the danceable peaks of pop music, they’re ready to take on Roskilde for the first time since 2002.

Wiz Khalifa and Foals ready for a comeback
From an independent rap prodigy to a bonafide chart-busting hit machine: 28-year-old Wiz Khalifa from Pittsburgh hit the Billboard top spot with his official debut single Black & Yellow, and his latest hit See You Again has reached more than one billion (!) plays on YouTube.

He will revisit Roskilde since his first show in 2012. The same goes for British indie rockers Foals who first played here in 2011. They’ve widescreened their rock sound to something stadium-sized with big choruses while maintaining their arty touch.

The following 18 acts announced for Roskilde Festival 2016 today:
  • Foals
  • New Order

Let just say you where wrong with big names B. ;-)
New Order is pretty big and exclusive so far (as far as I can tell). I wouldn't say Foals & Wiz Khalifa count as headliner.
Well none of the acts can be considered headliners (or can they?).

I have some listening to do, but I already found my first World Music Dance Party with Pat Thomas and Kwashibu Area Band.
New Order! Yes! Very happy with that.
Foals too.

Noted, cheers.
Wiz Khalifa not headlining what? Guys the man have 37million likes on facebook, he have a new album on the way, where Nominated for 2 grammys this year for his 2014 album. His single from Furious 7, hit #1 on Billboard ect. I have a hardtime seeing Roskilde booking a bigger hiphop name
Ah okay, I had no idea about his popularity. I only know him by name, never heard any of his work.

Well, Nicki Minaj similarly has 42 million likes on Facebook and her latest album was #1 on Billboard. She didn't get a headlining spot. But we can all agree that Wiz is either a headliner or an out-of-league subheadliner.
I was clearly also out of touch with his popularity. He is also numer 47 on the wish list, so he might be a headliner. I'm getting old :D
Pat Thomas and Kwashibu Area Band sound amazing, surely will be there. Other announcements for today.... Not so much. Except maybe for that Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra.
We are all getting old just guess I listen to more hiphop then some of you guys ;-)

I will go see Bring Me The Horizon in VEGA the 18/11. So after that I will know if I will be looking forward to seeming them again
Fantastic with New Order. Their new album is great and their show in 2002 was also great. And Bernard Sumner needs revenge for his very poor show with Bad Liuetanant in 2010.

Sleep a fab booking aswell. Hope they get a new record out before the summer.
Pat Thomas sound great too.

In todays announcement mail Roskilde writes:
From New Order over Foals to Wiz Khalifa, there's something for everyone.
Along with these headliners, today's 18 new acts include Bring Me the Horizon, Sleep, Odesza, Vince Staples and many more.

Also in webpage they are considered as headliners. Don't know if that could still change.

I have two must sees so far and both came today (New Order and Foals). Have to give listen to those I don't already know.
Sleep, awesome! First booking I wanna see this year, but then again I haven't really checked out the bands I didn't know beforehand.
Anyone else getting a sort of Parquet Courts vibe from some of the songs on Cate Le Bon's 'Mug Museum'?
