I'm part of a camp that, for the first time, really wants to make an effort in terms of getting a great camp. We've got a a financial commitment from members giving us some latitude with regards to "pimping the camp," as it were.
We've got the basics covered, of course: Pavilion(s), speakers, beer cooling and bong, pretty lights, and a bunch of other décor. But we'd like some suggestions.

What are, in your experiences, some really nice things to have in a camp? Maybe something beyond what you'd normally think to bring? Something you've either brought to great success or have experienced in another camp which set it apart?
Interesting question. With regards to the basics, make sure you have plenty of folding chairs. If you have a large camp it can also be useful to bring an old tent (that no one sleeps in) that you can use to store the chairs and other camping material. A folding table can also be useful.
A sturdy flag pole with flag can be useful so other people can easily find your camp if you are going to organize camp events or just want to invite people over.

What we have done in some shape or form for many years is organize a big barbecue. Someone brings a sturdy, big barbecue (not the small throw away crap) coals, a cooling box, plates, utensils & barbecue thongs. We go into town in the morning to buy fresh good quality meat, sauces, salad etc.
As an alternative you could organize a breakfast but again you will need to prepare for that with pots and pans and food.
Huge inflatable donkey usually helps. Or any kind of inflatable animal.
As B. is saying make somethink that brings you to getter as a camp. It can be food. It can be a game, a rule, what ever but stuff you guys find fun and that will help make you can unik for the week
Surprises!

Looking back, we always had a lot of fun when new, unexpected things happened.
Maybe you should ask your camp mates to secretly conceive and prepare something - a nice new drink, a sports gaming event, stand-up-comedy, monster masks for everyone in the camp, etc.
Masks always work, or a new game.
What do people use as lighting? Gets very dark some points at roskilde. We have no access to car battery, so looking for battery solution.

You won't need it. Just get used to the darkness at night. There are some lights. It's only really dark about 3-4 hours. And just bring a flash light for when you really need to find something in the tent or whatever (or just use your phone).
I have a small flash light in my tent. For the camp, any battery powered LED light will do. Have a look at a camping goods store.
This year we are going to installed a long string of battery powered Christmas tree LED lights, it runs on 3 D-Cell batteries.
But how can we score chicks if they can see how disgusting we actually look?
Yeah christmas led lights will do pretty fine:)) or one led light on battery you will mostly party perhaps and get back when its light anyway:)

If you look good - bring a flashlight
If you look disgusting - bring a fleshlight
